Here’s the reason why Apple’s Vision Pro Headset won’t have access to this popular streaming app.
Apple Vision Pro has support for hundreds of games and streaming apps, but one platform will drop it at launch. Netflix has confirmed that it does not have a dedicated app for the Vision Pro headset. In fact, the company has also said that its iPad app is not compatible with the headset.
So how do you watch Netflix on a headset that costs over Rs 3 lakh? The platform says that your only option to watch Netflix content on the Vision Pro headset is through the web browser version.
But doesn’t that compromise the quality of streaming in a headset with all the premium bells and whistles? Yes, it would definitely give you worse video quality, and Vision Pro’s so-called immersive experience isn’t coming to Netflix shows and movies anytime soon.
Apple’s upcoming headset is clearly not appealing to Netflix, and the decision to ban the app from the platform may be due to its overall strategy in this segment. After all, Netflix released a dedicated app for the Meta Quest headset, but its most recent update came a while ago, suggesting that the company isn’t too interested in the device ecosystem, at least for now.
The Apple Vision Pro will be available for pre-order in a few days on January 19 in the US. The product will then be released on February 2nd.
As the media gets their hands on the product for review, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has revealed that Apple may be planning to expand the availability of the Vision Pro to the rest of the world before its WWDC 2024 event.
It’s also been pointed out that Apple may be looking to ensure that buyers of the $3,499 Vision Pro get the right size via facial scanning. This is because Apple wants the Vision Pro to fit properly on users’ heads for optimal performance, and this is only possible if they purchase a headset with the correct Light Seal and Headband.
In the package, Apple includes the headphones themselves, Solo Knit Band, Dual Loop Band, Light Seal, two Light Seal pads, a cover for the front of the device, a polishing cloth, and a USB-C power adapter and cable.
